How it works
Paste your names, one per line, or press Import names to pull them from a spreadsheet, a Word file, a PDF or a photo of the class list. Choose how many groups you want, or how many people per group, and press Make groups. The list is shuffled with your browser’s cryptographic random generator and dealt out like cards, so groups never differ by more than one person.
Not happy with the mix? Shuffle again makes a fresh set. Copy groups puts them on your clipboard, ready for a chat, an email or the board. Your list stays in this browser, so it is still there next lesson.
Ideas for using it
- Classrooms: project work, lab partners, reading circles, seating.
- Sports and games: five-a-side teams, quiz night tables, tournament brackets.
- Work: breakout rooms, workshop tables, secret-santa style pairings (choose 2 people per group).
Questions
- Can I name the groups?
- Pick a style: numbered, fun animal names, colors, or letters. Colored groups get matching card colors, handy for classroom tables.
- How many names can it handle?
- Up to 2,000 at once.
- Is there a wheel version?
- Yes. The spin the wheel page has the same team splitter in its Teams tab, next to the wheel.
